Stimulus & Response Lab
Objective: I can explain how stimulus is transmitted through neurons, creating a response to the body from the brain.
Standard: Gather and synthesize information that sensory receptors respond to stimuli by sending messages to the brain for immediate behavior or memories.
Just like how this cat is reacting to the water in the dish, all organisms respond to a variety of stimuli. Today we are going to conduct a lab where you will test your ability to respond to stimulus.
Follow this link to the website we will be using to conduct the lab. First read the background and procedures of the experiment with your partner. Once the the class has read the procedures, I will set the timer for the lab and you and your partner can begin.

Test Your Brain Note: Do not use the math equation suggested for each equation. Instead, simply record your measurements in cm. Tomorrow we will convert cm to seconds together.

Once you and your partner finish, use C.E.R. to write what occurred during your experiment. Write this under your the tables for this lab in your Science Journal. Use these terms in your answer:
stimulus, response, sensory neuron, motor neuron, transmission, central nervous system, peripheral nervous system
